There are few things better than opening my computer each day to see message after message about how well things are going for my clients because of the strategies we've built. New clients signing on. Clients renewing their packages. Audiences growing. Time off taken without business chaos. Decision fatigue decreasing. Time made for self care and play and living life beyond the business or a screen. And since seeing the wins really stack and build some momentum lately, I've been working on a new private podcast where I'm basically going over the fact that, as business owners, there are a good number of things we can control... but a much, much larger number of things we absolutely and completely cannot control. [TLDR: my peeps are controlling what they can control and seeing results from it. pretty excellent] State of the economy? No control. Consumer trust overall? Not a bit. Which piece of content goes viral? No way. Which at first might sound a bit terrifying. With so much we can't control, what the bloody hell are we supposed to do?! Well my friend, I'd like to throw out the idea that this is in fact the best realization you may ever have in your business. What you're supposed to do with this news is release allllll of the thought gremlins and ghouls who creep in and whispers dreadful nothings through your brain about the things you can't control, and train your brilliant brain on the things you can. An exercise that might be helpful, if you're a pen-and-paper sort of human who would like a physical way to work this out...
If you don't fancy doing that yourself, I'll give you my list of things I'd argue you can control inside of your business...
Each of these buckets is a foundational part of the upcoming group offer I'm going to be sharing - because when you have the structure and tools to control each of these pieces, business becomes smoother. There are fewer decisions to make - especially in the day to day and week to week moments - and your company feels steadier. And yes, sales and audience growth come as a result of controlling what you can control, and using the extra brain space that comes from taking the 1,000 other things you could be doing off your cognitive load. Your mission this week, should you choose to accept it: do that audit of the tasks/ideas taking up space in your reality, and remove any of the things you can't control. Use this as an opportunity to get really honest with yourself about what's showing up as productive procrastination, what's getting repeated because it gives a hit of dopamine or the illusion of control, and remove those things. Report back with how it goes, yeah? x CQ WEBSITE | CHELSEA'S INSTAGRAM | BOOK A SALES SPRINT | WORK WITH ME 1:1 |
Chelsea Quint is The Business Whisperer, an ex-corporate marketer turned messaging strategist who helps brilliant founders get their genius offers seen and sold. After cutting her teeth in marketing for major brands like Pilot Pens and Party City, she now uses her marketing expertise to help entrepreneurs break through the noise with crystal-clear positioning, magnetic messaging, and cult-status offers that convert. Chelsea specializes in crafting emotionally resonant sales campaigns that build trust, spark desire, and skyrocket sales without chasing trends or dumbing things down. Her approach treats business building as both art and science, focusing on the strategic storytelling that transforms best-kept secrets into bestselling offers. When she's not helping clients design sales systems that book out their services (or sell out their digital products), you can find her on the East Coast with her chef husband, corgi, and two cats, probably trying to eat Mexican food for every meal and improvising songs about what her pets are thinking.
So last week I posted a story about how my latest podcast would help folks with content creation for the end of summer, and, well… I got a few DMs about the fact that it’s early August and summer is very much not ending. Which like yes, hi, true, and I do apologize for coming in with that violence. And but also… I want to tell you what I told them. I released that podcast in early August to make sure we’re all prepped, sorted and supported for whatever juicy sales activities we’re dreaming of...
Last Christmas, my sister-in-law got me a delightful paint by numbers kit. It was made by a company called Breathe People, and included digital resources to make the painting situation into a lovely little meditative experience. And like the small business nerd that I am, I creeped on their website as soon as I opened the box last weekend to get my paint on. Which leads me to the marketing + lead gen idea I want to share with ya. On their site, they have a Let’s Collaborate link that heads...
So, there is a very particular kind of founder I see a lot in my world... largely because I tend to connect with folks who are EPIC at what they do, but still not hitting the level of consistent, dependable, and frankly life-changing money they want to be making from their business. That was me for the first 3 years of my business... And it's the thing where you're not confused about whether you can sell. When you are in a room with someone, or talking to them in the DMs, or on a sales call,...
